Protecting Our Local Bus Services
I know just how difficult public transport can be in South East Cornwall—especially in rural and coastal areas where regular, reliable services are often a lifeline.
Whether it’s getting to school, work, medical appointments, or simply staying in touch with friends and family, having access to affordable and dependable transport is vital for staying connected—not just physically, but socially and economically too.
That’s why I recently met with Go Cornwall Bus, the operator of many routes across our area, to raise concerns about changes to local bus services. I’ve heard from residents across the constituency who are being affected by service reductions and timetable changes—particularly those without access to a car.
I made it clear that these services are not a luxury—they are essential. Communities should not be left behind because of where they live.
While discussions are still ongoing, I want to reassure you that I am continuing to push for solutions, and will keep working with local stakeholders to ensure people in South East Cornwall can travel safely, affordably, and reliably within their own communities.
If you’ve been affected by changes to your local bus route, please do get in touch and share your experience with me.
